1 Year Old
Cora and Ruby are 1! I can’t believe it! Last time I checked they were just little babies, and now they’re basically toddlers. They learned how to walk over the weekend. Granted, it’s a Frankenstein style still, but it is walking none the less. We had a llama fiesta on their birthday. It turned out fabulous. What wonderful, creative, enthusiastic lady put on such a great first birthday party? 😉 There was mariachi music, pin the tail on the donkey, a llama piñata, a top notch taco bar, fancy llama sugar cookies, some amazing cakes, a slide show with pictures of the girls throughout their first year, a giant llama balloon that walked around, flags, chalk board art, and of course festive outfits for the whole family. Phew! Like I said, it was quite the party.
It was mostly great because of all the people who came to celebrate with us. My mom and Rob flew in from Orlando, Dani traveled from Utah, my Nana, Abba, and Uncle Brain drove up from Dayton, and then we had the Bergsten’s, the Parkinson’s, and the Rich’s over (who are all play group friends).
These twins are pretty special. They are funny and sweet, and they keep us on our toes. They love dancing to music, and they have really good rythum too! Cora is learning to share, and likes to bring me pieces of trash to stick in my pocket. Ruby likes to play the piano and empty any cupboard, drawer, or shelf she can get her hands on. They know a few signs, including waving hello, all done, more (as of two days ago), and up. The like flipping through books really fast, playing outside, going anywhere, and climbing up and down stairs. Ruby loves baby dolls. She been carrying around her new doll everywhere. Cora will play catch with Clayton, she likes bringing me books, and she still loves a game of peek a boo.
Our newest thing is brushing teeth. Apparently when you have 2.5 teeth it’s important to brush them with tooth paste. So I went out last night to buy some brushes and baby tooth paste, and we gave it a shot this morning. Cora at least chewed on the brush, Ruby didn’t want it near her face. It’s a work in progress.
We’re so lucky to have Cora and Ruby. They’re the cutest duo, and they make everything about our family better. Happy birthday to my ladies!
