Pickle Ball

Image
What do we do on Holidays away from school and work? Play pickle ball, of course!  Unfortunately, I only pulled out my camera at the end of the games, so I missed out on taking pictures of everyone other that Scott and Clayton. Afterward we ate dinner together and a couple rounds of Liars Dice. Spending time at the Johnson's is always a great way to unwind. ... And this is a random snap shot of Whitney and Scott playing flute/piano duets before dinner. I've always felt like a house never felt like a home unless there was a piano inside. Most of my family plays a musical instrument, so music was a common background noise growing up. Something about live music being played is so soothing to me.

The Nords

Today was my first cross country skiing class. I'm one of those unfortunate Utahn's who hates winter. I don't like being cold, I don't like slipping on every set of stairs, and I don't like driving in the snow and ice. So to make this winter more enjoyable, I signed up for a winter sport class. And I love it! The class is actually all skiing and snowboarding, but we are divided into specified groups. The snowboarding and downhill skiing groups are huge, and my little nordic skiing group is 7 people. I have a feeling we are going to be really close knit by the end of the semester. This class is every Wednesday from noon to 5 PM. We all ride the bus up to Sundance Resort together, then once we are there the Nords (that's what they call the cross country skiing group) take a Suburban farther up the mountain to the Nordic Center. It's basically just a yurt full of equipment and warmth. After getting fitted into our boots, poles, and skis we began learni

The Great Gatsby

Tuesdays are by far my longest days. I have classes in the morning, work in the afternoon, and then more classes in the evening. It's like an attention marathon. I always come home feeling like I've been awake and haven't eaten in 3 days.  Walking into my apartment to see candles flickering, the Great Gatsby soundtrack playing, dinner made, dishes cleaned, laundry started, floors vacuumed, and my handsome husband dressed in his best suit turned my bad mood into a great one faster than you would believe.  Yes, I know. I am one lucky lady.

BYU won the basketball game against Pepperdine.  It was pretty close the whole time, but Pepperdine never scored above BYU. We won 84 - 72. Go Cougars!

Book Review

One of the best parts of Christmas break is that you finally have time to read real books, not just text books.  On New Year's Eve, I went to my sisters house. My brother-in-law Greg game me this book and said that I should read it. Well I did read it, and I thought that it was a really inspiring story. It's about a man who grew up Muslim and converted to Christianity. Traditionally, this conversion doesn't usually go over so well, in fact most Muslim to Christian converts are murdered. Muhammad suffered a lot of persecution and abuse because of his new found beliefs. There was one part in the book where he is a womanizer that made me really uncomfortable, but other than that I really liked it. It would be really interesting to meet him one day. Clayton and I both read Ender's game over the break too. I liked the book, but I didn't love it. Clayton loved it though. He said that the leadership development was really fascinating. He loved it so much, i

Birthday Boy!!!

Today is Clayton's 25th Birthday. He's an old geezer now.  Every year on every member of my family's birthday, my mom writes memories of them, things she loves about them, or random facts about them. If you are 25 then you get 25 facts. Now that I have my own family I want to carry on that tradition. So here it is. 25 things I love/remember about Clayton: 1. Clayton is one of the loudest, most entertaining people I know. 2. He is also one of the most supportive people I know. He might be more excited about my ambitious dream career as a dolphin trainer, and is constantly trying to help me reach any goal or dream I have. 3. Clayton's favorite food is hamburgers. I have eaten more hamburgers in the past 2 years that I have been with him than I ever have in my whole life.  It's a staple in our house. 4. Clayton's really athletic. He does intramural sports at BYU every semester, plays pick up games whenever he can, and signs up
