Summer

I love summer. It's my favorite season.
This year has absolutely flown by. We're busy, busy, busy all the time with trips, friends, family, work, and Abe. I threw a few photos up on here to commemorate some of the moments left on my phone's camera roll before I delete them.

This was at the beginning of summer. Hannah flew to Ohio to visit Nana and Abba, and we drove down to see her. We played at an Escape Room, which was awesome. We had played one game before and failed, but this time we actually succeeded and escaped! Our theme was the Pharaoh's tomb, which included so many hieroglyphics and I don't think a single one of them ended up being a clue.

Dani had her 30th birthday, and we celebrated with a dance party in Utah. It was a fun reason to get dressed up and see everyone.

Tatum got baptized (also in Utah, of course). Without meaning to, all of us siblings ended up matching with floral prints. I guess floral is very in right now.

Clayton and I spent our summer vacation in California visiting family. We were with the Arhets/Houghton/Utzinger side for the first 6 days in southern California, and then we drove up to San Fransisco and spent 4 days with the Johnson's side.

One of my favorite parts of San Fransisco was visiting Alcatraz. I just love touring old prisons. We have the Ohio State Mansfield Penitentiary, the one featured in Shawshank Redemption, and I love touring it too. Something about prison is both creepy and fascinating.  Alcatraz was extra cool because you toured the whole little island, which the prison guards families lived on. Right next to the prison! Can you imagine growing up on an island that also housed the countries most dangerous criminals?

This summer the Clements moved to Ohio for an internship with Goodyear. We became bffs instantly and spent almost the whole summer together. I don't think we missed a single weekend, or even most of the week nights, except for when we were out of town. Then they moved back to Provo. The Bushes moved to Ohio over a year ago and we became really good friends with them too. Sadly, they moved away to Tennessee about 2 weeks ago. It's always sad when friends move, but at least we had a super fun group during this summer. We did lots of camping, hiking, Lake Erie beach trips, disc golf, movie nights, laser tag, baking/cooking, game nights, and hanging out.

Poor Abe. Clearly we're torturing him with apparel. We struggled with walking him last winter, because the snow would get packed between the pads on his feet and he ended up limping and crying. So this year we bought him some snow boots. He walks like a newborn fawn with them on.
