September 2025 Catching Up

It's been too long since I've blogged any family updates, and I already know I'm going to miss those lost years that I forgot to document! Dang it! So, here's a little recent life update to get the ball rolling again.

This month has been a big, exciting one for Darcy. She started ballet lessons, which she has been begging me for since she was 2 and watched her big sisters go to dance class. She absolutely loves it, and has made a friend named Josie in her class. Darcy is quite the little dancer, and her teacher tells me every week what a great student she is.

Darcy also started preschool! It's twice a week for 2.5 hours, but that seems to be the perfect amount of time for her. She loves her teacher Mrs. Melody, and has made two little bffs, Sailor and Eloise. Their class is pretty small, so she plays with all the kids, but says that sometimes the boys play a little too rough for her. She doesn't have having things thrown at her all the time.
Darcy comes home every day with something new she's learned, and says her favorite part is the snacks.

We recently discovered the Springville Museum of Art. Darcy and I went with Dani, and while Darcy kipped through the rooms, clearly uninterested in looking at pictures, Dani and I really enjoyed looking at them. The museum has a whole exhibit on Soviet art, which I surprisingly felt connected to. Now I'm looking for a piece of art to hang in my house the has a similar feel. My favorite piece was an oil painting of a woman dressed in traditional Russian village clothes, looking out over a rural landscape.

Grace moved to Utah this fall to go to classes at BYU and date a guy named Jefferson. We went on a triple date with Sierra and Chris to see the movie Freaky Friday 2. Clayton and I were cracking up at Jamie Lee Curtis the whole time, she's hysterical and I love her.

(In this picture Ruby and Cora are dressed up as professions that they want to be in when they grow up. Cora is a geologist, and Ruby is a deep sea diver.)

Ruby and Cora are in 2nd grade this year. It's been a good first couple months of school already. They like their teachers Ms. Ruiz and Ms. Hill. They also like that because there's only two dual immersion classes, they move up in grades with the same kids in their class each year. It's going to be a tight knit group. They spend a half day in english with Ms. Hill, and then switch to Spanish with Ms. Ruiz, or vis versa since they're in opposite classes. I've noticed a lot of growth this year already too, mostly with Cora's ready and both girl's Spanish. Ruby loves reading, and I'll often find her tucked away somewhere reading a chapter book. Cora is more reluctant and only reads during "reading time", which is about 20 minutes a day. But she's doing really well, and I think if I can find her a series she's into she'll become a book worm too.
Both girls recently started taking piano lessons, and they'll be starting basketball this next month. Lots of fun things happening for those twins!
