New York Trip

This past week we went on a trip to Buffalo to go house hunting. It. Was. Awesome. We love Buffalo.

We had a lot of problems with the air planes on the way there and on the way back. On Tuesday night we left after my last class and flew from Salt Lake to New York City and arrived at 5 AM. (Note to self: never do that again.) Once we got there we were supposed to have an hour long lay over, but the flight was completely canceled and we had to hang out in the airport for 5 hours. FIVE HOURS!
We eventually got to Buffalo, picked up our rental car, and went straight to an apartment viewing that we had scheduled before knowing we weren't going to get in until the afternoon. It probably didn't go as well as it could have because we were both dead tired. After that we drove straight to our hotel and slept for a long time.

(trying to sleep in the airport)

Buffalo NY is know for it's food. There are Buffalo wing restaurants and pizzerias everywhere. And since we were eating out every day, we got to try a lot of them out.

We spent one of the days down by a marina by the inlet to lake Ontario. There were memorials from all the major U.S. wars, a couple of ships and subs to tour, restaurants, kayak rentals, and a sandy shore.
We ate the most amazing pretzel dogs there.

We looked at tons of apartments, like maybe close to 20. Finally on saturday we found the one. It's a loft in the Northern side of the city, which is the nicer part. It's a little smaller than we were looking for, but it's still way bigger than the apartment we are living in now. We are super excited to move in.

We left Buffalo on Monday, because I had classes on Tuesday that I couldn't miss. However, like I said before, we had a lot of trouble with the planes. Our flight from Buffalo to NYC was delayed a few hours, so we missed our flight back to Salt Lake, and the next one wasn't until 6 PM the next day. JetBlue said that because the delay came from mechanical issues, which was their fault not ours, they put us up in another hotel for the night.
We figured since we were already there and our flight wasn't leaving until the next evening, we might as well go into the city. And it just so happens that my friends live there right now! So we met up with Derek in Time Square and chatted and roamed around until Sarah Kay's lunch break. Then we all went to a cafe and had some great food, great company, and a great afternoon.

I'm really glad that we found a place to live when we get to Buffalo, but now we have to buy all the stuff to put in it. When we first got married and moved into the condo we are living in now, it was already furnished. It was really convenient at the time, but now we have to buy everything for the unfurnished loft. So the hunt it on. I've been scouring KSL and Craigslist, and we are making trips to IKEA to see what we can find to move with us. I can't wait to get there, move in, find a job, and be done with school!
