Labor Day Weekend

Last weekend we went up to Buffalo with our friends Steve and Flavia. They wanted to see Niagara Falls and we wanted to see our Buffalo friends. It's about a 3 hr drive, which in my opinion is the perfect mini road trip. We stayed the night at Angel and Amy Santiago's house. It was so fun catching up with them and see their little kids a year older. The next morning we drove to Niagara Falls. We started the day by taking the tour of the Cave of the Winds. It was awesome! It's a small hike down to the bottom of the falls where you can look up at the waterfall and even stand in part of it. We were all completely soaked by the falls. We had lunch at pub near by and then took the Maid of the Mist boat tour. We lived in Buffalo for a year and never took the time to do any of the tourist activities until now, and I'm so glad we did. It was so fun. After the boat tour we stopped at the giant outlet mall that all the Canadians love and then went back down to Buffalo to have dinner with more friends.
The whole time we were driving through our old stomping grounds I kept thinking about how much I do not miss living there, but how much I really do miss the friends we made there. We've always been so lucky to have great friends no matter where we live.

Last week we got a piano. I heard someone say once that a house isn't a home unless there's a piano in it, and I kind of agree with that. We always had a piano at home growing up. I love listening to/ playing it.

This weekend was a busy one. Friday night we went camping with the Miller family and the Talley family at the John Johnson farm. We stayed up way too late talking around the camp fire, and in the morning we did a service project at the farm. We also went on a hike through some poison ivy infested woods. Clayton has had some really bad luck with poison ivy this past month. He has a really bad rash currently that might need some steroids. Side note: I'm so grateful to have so many doctor friends who can prescribe us meds and solve our ailments.

After camping we did yard work at home and then went to a party. BYU's first football game was last night, so all the BYU alumni in our ward got together to watch it. Go Cougars!
