Last week we had our first babysitter, closely followed by our second. It was awesome! Tuesday night we went out to see Captain Marvel. We asked a laurel in our ward to come “babysit”, though the girls were already in bed so all she had to do was sit on the couch for a couple of hours. Easy job. She was nervous though. In the end it went perfectly. No one woke up, and she was fine.  We were planning on having a Pi day party on Thursday, but we canceled it because I caught the flu. Big bummer. Clayton stayed home to take care of the ladies on Friday, and by Saturday I was completely better.  Saturday we had our second babysitter. A sister in the ward has told us every week during church for months that we need to have her babysit, so we decided to take her up on her offer. Can we just get rid of daylight savings already? Who benefits from it? Definitely not babies who are on schedules. I’ve been slowly trying to adjust Ruby’s and Cora’s nap times and bed time, but it’s not going well. We might just be a hot mess for the next week or two.  We woke up this morning to a loud buzzing sound coming from our furnace and a burning rubber smell. I was worried it was time to replace our super old furnace, but luckily it just needs a new motor.  We took the girls to the pool today. Neither one of them is fond of water. It took a long time for them to enjoy baths, and even now they only like short ones. However, I’m determined that no daughter of mine will be afraid of water. I took swimming lessons my whole life, I was on the swim team in high school, my friends and I spent every single summer day swimming in our backyard from sun up til sun down, and even today the smell of chlorine is an instant mood lifter for me. Somehow these cute girls are 11 months old now. They are so sweet and funny. At our last appointment they measured 20th percentile fit weight, 30th for height, and 60th for head circumference. I’d be interested to know how they compare on an adjusted age scale though. Both girls are standing on their own, turning off lights every time we pass a light switch, eating lots of food, and emptying every drawer and cabinet they can get into. Ruby and Cora have been “sleeping through the night” for many months now with the help of an 11 pm dream feed. Usually you drop the dream feed around 6 months, but because my girls are small sized and low on the growth charts I kept the dream feed to give them more opportunities to get more calories. I was hesitant to drop the feeding because I didn’t want to jeprodizs their consistent good nights sleep, but they’re 11 months old now, so it was time. Today was our Stake’s Relief Society Conference. The main speaker was a grief counselor at a hospital who talked about coping with grief. We then took various random classes. I chose to go to cake decorating, gardening, and “finding joy”. They were all good, fun classes. We used a birthday gift card to Olive Garden tonight. Cora discovered the garlic bread.

Today Rachel and her kids came over. We made chocolate covered Oreos with fancy Valentine’s Day toppings. I gave them to Clayton, who took them to work and shared them with his co workers.  Tonight we are making fondu for the first time. Fingers crossed that it works out. Ruby and Cora have this adorable new game they play when we’re hanging out in their room. They’ll chase each other around the rocking chair and stop to look backwards and laugh at the other one. Could they be any more adorable as a duo? Cora is standing on her own these days. Clayton have I have a bet going. He says that they’ll be walking by their birthday, but I think it’ll take them a little longer. Cora might just do it though.  It’s almost running season, and I am feeling the itch! All my favorite hobbies are seasonal, unfortunately. Camping, hiking, running, swimming, etc. I have been playing the piano and my violin a lot more recently, hoping that it will one day encourage Ruby and Cora to also want to...

Our friends the Helbigs were sealed in the temple this weekend, which gave us the perfect excuse to visit Dayton. Clayton went to the sealing on Saturday while the girls and I hung out with Nana and Abba.  I’m always really disappointed in the quality of the pictures that my phone takes. Aren’t iPhone supposed to have good cameras in them? Mine stinks. Oh well. Anyway, we had a great time. We watched the scariest movie ever called Split. It’s about a guy with split personality disorder. Absolutely creepy. We also watched a movie called Gifted, about a guy who gets custody of his niece. It was cute. The weather driving home was awful. It tacked an extra hour into our drive. Luckily Ruby and Cora fell asleep the minute we started driving away from the house, and they went straight to bed as soon as got home. Those girls were tired.
